You found my hidden rant...

This is where (if you feel so inclined) I will post personal news, family pics, keep in touch, or just speak my mind.
You know, much like a myspace, facebook, or the blogging flavor of the month. I’m just not into joining the social cult.
Everybody does not need to know everything about me and where I am 24/7. So You’ll get major events or minor thoughts but you will not get vacation updates or view my “status” or count my “friends.”
Enjoy...

Merry Christmas to all my family and friends who find themselves reading this. Whether we talk daily or we haven’t talked in months, I think of you just the same.
Thanksgiving rolled around and I was shocked. I have no idea where the summer went and winter is here. I’m flippin through some DVDs and I came across “Christmas 2008.” Not the ridiculous skit we sent out, but just some home movie stuff I put together from Christmas day (yeah, insert Ray Charles here...) When I pulled it out I thought “man, I just did this.” I thought maybe it was because Elora has added a lot of “excitement” and that made the time fly. But I started to share this sentiment with others and they all felt the same (or at least were just humoring me.)
Although the warmer months had slipped through my fingers and their early departure left me dizzy, I couldn’t wait to pop that DVD in. The day after Thanksgiving we (me, Paulette, and Xan) watched it. I couldn’t believe how small Xan looked. I was recently looking at pictures of our trip to Disney World in Jan. of 08 and thought “Wow, he looks so young.” This DVD was only a year ago, an incredibly short, fast paced year at that and he looks so small.
At one point he looks down at his presents and says “this is the best Christmas ever.” Now I don’t feel any pressure to upstage and make sure 09 gets the lead. Quite regularly I might hear “this is the best day ever,” and “this is the worst day ever,” all in the same day. It did make me think that each new age I experience with Xan is the “best age ever.” 2007 “3 is the best age ever,” 2008 “no 4 is the best age ever,” 2009 “no 5 is the best age ever...” 0 to 1 I could do without. I’m on the fence with 2.
Paulette points out, “listen to how quiet the house is [on the DVD].” This statement is so sadly true. Now, I love Elora. She is my daughter and she is an asset to my four man band. But let me just point out the white elephant in the room. Currently she has a lot in common with that horrible screaming worm from the Simpsons ( http://www.thesimpsons.com/episode_guide/1321.htm ) If you’ve seen that episode and spent a few hours at my house recently you’d get the comparison. Still I remain optimistic. I have to. or I’ll lose to much weight.
I’m looking forward to small gatherings. a delicious meal or two. whatever desert Paulette decides on. Sipping egg nog with a poof of whip-cream, fantastic cookies, and “Hey, Hey, its Knishmas” or “Prep & Landing” on the tube. My wife and kids waking up to find what Santa has left. My wife and kids. A windup flashlight from Barb. Slappin my base @ church. And all the Noise, Noise, Noise.
We’re doin fine in 09. Christmas this year is going to be great, as it is every year. Sure things may happen, they always do, thats life. Some will have to spend some of their time at work, most will not. Some are sick, most are healthy. For some this may be their last, but we have spent many with them in the past and we will not forget that. Some I will see this year and some I will not. I love all of you and wish you a Merry Christmas.
...Yeah I kinda missed ‘em, I just don’t wanna kiss ‘em no. Its Christmas all over again...
